I got the GS3, the audio is not that great and I wanted a AMP/DAC combo for my laptop too, that's why I got the E17. In your case the better and cheaper option will be the Sansa DAP
I used to have a clip (it broke) and it was very good, agreed. However, for me, the HTC One with Power Amp, Player Pro or Neutron is also good portable solution and saves you having to lug a second piece of kit around. I would certainly try that first as it's a low cost solution. Having said that, I am intrigued by some of the other DAPs on offer, as mentioned earlier in the thread, like the new iBasso DX50... but I'm not convinced that it's really justified...
clip zip:
+ better SQ
+ you dont have to charge your phone so often
+ 16hours battery
+/- in order to make it good ytou have to rock box, and configure everybit of it so to make the gui look good for you. But once you finish you get something that is great for you.
- you might have to open it to fix it (jhack problem is no rumor, but you might be lucky and dont have to)
- you have to buy something
so it might come down to what you prefer, something simple, or do a little work ( rockbox and might have to solder the jack which is easy)
ps: i own a sansa and i coulndt be more happy with it
That's what I tried to do pairing my GS3 with E17 but it's not very convenient, that's why now I would just get a stand alone DAP because of better SQ and no complications of connecting/stacking the portable AMP/DAC with my phone. True that you can pair the E17 with the laptop but that brings in its own complications.like double-amping. getting an additional LOD, etc.
