I'm upgrading a source and I need your opinion on what I should do. Should I get my C555ES the SACDmods (statement mods) or should I buy a used 777ES player and sell my stock C555ES? Which should sound better ? Thanks.

Ampgalore,
To many, the C555ES (SACDmods player) is near the reference standard. I don't think the new changer will be as good as the 777ES and C555modded player.

Hi purk, given how cheap the mods are versus buying entirely new players, seems like a no-brainer to me to go ahead and get the mods.

It went out via FedEX ground 1 hour ago. I ended up getting the Statement Mods package w/ additional IEC. Cost me a good chunk of money, but I think I went with the best. Let's count down!!

Keep us posted, not that I expect you to have anything other than high praise for it. I finally ordered the ZapFilter to be put in my Music Hall. I'm very excited to finally hear this thing. I should have it back from the modder (Sound Odyssey) late next week (crosses fingers). Now all we need is a ZapFilter shootout!

Same boat here. One day I'm ready to ship it off for mods then that nagging urge for a universal hits me! If the modded unit is as good as advertised, the $700 price tag would be a bargain. Then again, what's real and what's hype with the praise being heaped on this modded player?

Tough choice no doubt.

KenW,

At first, I want to stop with the C222ES (SACDmods) player, then the upgradis hits me. I have bad a habbit of collecting stuff. At one time, I have 2 C333ES, C555ES, and C555ES in my room. I decided to downsize my collection and went ahead for the ultimate modification.

The idea of having a universal player (Denon DVD-2900 Mods) with an equaled performance to my beloved really took it toe on me. I waited almost 2 week before deciding to go with the C555ES.

As markl pointed out, given the fact that you already own the 555ES, and the cost of the mods, just have Matthew Anker mod it for you. The final product is a brilliant player that can compare to anything up to $3k.

Nightfall,
I shipped it out today. Mr. Ankers should get it by the end of the week. The shipping via FedEX ground w/ 400 dollars insurance was quite cheap, 17 bucks for a double boxed C555ES. I probably have to take it easy for two weeks. Can't wait to hear the modded product.
