hi, i just joined head-fi and i need a little help choosing new headphones.
I currently have an old audigy 2 zs and senn hd518. I listen almost every kind of music but most of the time classical, jazz, violins, pianos
 
I was thinking about hd650(345euro), new sound card and an amp
OR
hd700(577euro),  only with an amp or a soundcard with an amp just like asus stx(i am scared to say that here)
 
because of limited budget, i cant spent much for an amp and a soundcard if i go for the hd700
Is it better to buy the hd700 with the stx or the 650 with a proper amp? and what card/amp do you suggest with each pair?
 
edit:i forgot to say that almost all the time im listening in low volume

Have you considered planar headphones?
HE 400 or HE 500 with a starter dac/amp like E10 or E17.

i cant find them at a normal price, without having to pay import taxes..
are they a better choice because i dont care about high volume?
 
i was thinking about sennheiser again because of their shape.
i havent used any other brand and feel comfortable for over 6 hours per day(pc work), so i dont know if i want to take the risk.

Whatever people say about the 650s treble , its one headphone which will always remain in your heart .....
I have auditioned the 700 , 800 own the 650s , I honestly prefer it over the 700 but still the 700 is a fantastic can which is highly overshadowed but the 650s ....... mmm mmm mmm

@ OP, have you checked sale/trade section of this forum for HE 400 or HE 500. Sometimes you may find used cans for a good deal. I bought a pair of used HE 400 with extra cable from this forum. It was a good deal.
I would highly recommend you to reconsider about HE 400 or HE 500.

I myselves have the sennheiser hd 650 with the FiiO E17 (getting the E09k soon) and i really enjoy it. the E17 sounds really well but I don't know about the E09k. but i highly recommend it.
