Should I get a soundcard and a DAC for Sennheiser HD 555s?

So I'm thinking of getting a pair of HD 555s for my computer but I'm still running on onboard sound which is obviously a no-no if I'm grabbing something of entry-level quality. Would it be worth my while to get both a soundcard and a DAC (hopefully something cheap like the uDAC) for gaming and music? If so, how would I set it up because I have no idea how to get a soundcard to use an external DAC.

Sorry for asking a really basic question. I've been trying to read up on posts and most of it is beyond me.

The external DAC would either replace your sound card in the case of USB DACs, or it would be necessary to connect the DAC to the sound card's digital audio output (optical or coaxial S/PDIF).

The Udac is ideal for cans in the calibre of HD595, no higher.  After that better sources, amps and cans is the only way to go.

The D10 is an even better unit.
