Hi all,
 
I am going to be in Japan in a couple of weeks and would like some recommendations for head-fi/hi-fi shopping.
 
I will be in Tokyo, Takayama and Osaka.
 
I am interested in pursuing Fostex TPH900 and other hi-end headphones, but also any other sort of interesting gear.
 
So, any suggestions?

Head to e-earphone in Akihabara. It has just about everything that we talk about on Head-Fi and quite a bit that we don't. There is also the Fujiya Avic shop in Nakano. I'll ping the Tokyo group that you'll be around and they might show you around if they aren't busy.
