Shanling UA4 - Portable USB DAC/AMP with Newest ESS DAC, Full screen and Hardware Buttons
Nov 9, 2023 at 7:54 AM Post #16 of 165
This looks very interesting... I have the UA3 and UP5, and I like both of these products, and this one looks like a good alternative to the UA3. I assume the different DAC and Op Amp components will produce a different "house" sound output, but I look forward to any and all reviews in this thread. :relaxed:

@Shanling

Could you please provide english versions of all these slides?

And could you please explain in detail, what these 6 100µF capacitors are for?

Yep, this is what I'd like to know, but compared to the UA3. I'm sure once it becomes more widely available, there will be reviews on YouTube that will answer some of these questions.

But why let us english speaking customers wait so long?
11.11 sale is now, so we need the infos now, too. :)

It's still a bit Sabre sound, but with a bit less glare and overall more natural sounding than UA5.

UA3 definitely has a smoother and warmer sound.

We do not run any double 11 sales.

They are part of the audio circuit and we choose particular type of capacitors for our desired audio tuning.

@Shanling

Do any of UA1, UA1s, UA1 Plus, UA2, UA2 Plus, UA3, UA4, UA5 support in-line microphone (4-pole 3.5mm CTIA TRRS)?

Shanling UA4 received yesterday.
A beautiful object, well made, beautiful screen, excellent sound, very clear, very dynamic, very musical and which changes from others, very many recent dongles with Cirrus Logic or AKM.
Does not work with older versions of Android.

Hi Shanling, I have seen that the UA4's user manual said that by using the Edditct Player (on Android only), UA4 can be configured more than by using the button itself, so I have some questions because I am thinking of getting an UA4:

1/ What are configurations that can be set by the device itself (via the buttons)?
2/ What are "extra" configurations that can be set by the Eddict Player application? And after the configuration, does UA4 store it (So I can use UA4 with pre-configured with the other devices such as iPhone, Windows, ...)?

Answered here:
Currently pretty much all functions are on the device itself, so you can change filters on it directly. I believe only setting only available in the app is the low powered mode setting.
