Shanling T300

I'm not too into the looks. I like the T200 better. Enjoy!

Anybody know a USA dealer for shanling?

Thanks everyone, for your kind remarks. I realize that designs of this sort are not universally applauded, and I was fully expecting a lot folks to throw stones and make jokes... so thanks for refraining, if you happen to fall into this camp.

Oh, you can count on some T100, T200, T300 comparisons! The only balanced amps I have are the Bel Canto amps that I use in my 2 channel and HT systems. I'll definitely give the T300 a whirl with them. I've never been a big believer in the notion that a balanced configuration can (or even should) produce better results than single ended, save the situations where you have to deal with a long run (15 feet or more) for interconnects. This debate is for other threads, but suffice it to say that this wasn't much of a consideration in my decision to buy the T300. I just like it. How's that for shallow?

My thoughts exactly, Tom! Only I'm hoping it sounds as good as it looks, just like the Orpheus does.

In fact, ship the other two and we can have a Shanling shootout.

Most definitely! The T100, T200 and T300 will all be at the Florida meet. They are being shipped to my Florida address and I won't have a chance to get up there prior to the April 9th meet.

I'd highly recommend Sound Emporium. They advertise on Audiogon. It's a small husband and wife business that started (and still is) a brick and morter joint, but they do a fair deal of internet business as well and are honest and straightforward in their pricing. They have loads of great feedback, etc.

Music Hall is the only authorized US importer/distributor. I'm not sure if you can buy from them directly, but my guess would be no unless you live in their area - which I believe is Great Neck, NY, so that might be worth a shot. But if this works out for you, you've got to promise not to rub my nose in your deep discounted T200 price!

Yes, full retail is indeed $6,995.00 w/ a World Wide distribution of only 300 units.

But with those cosmetics price will be irrelevant to many.

Damn thing looks like it would fly away if one were to throw it into to air!!

BTW- I'm taking orders! LOL !!

Thanks for the info.

Don't worry I'm not interested in the CD/SACD players. So you're safe and so is my wallet

Interesting that they dropped the SACD option.
I guess I will be spending next February in K-Mon.
The elders will refer to you as Shanling Wayne.

So you took the leap!! Ah man...seriously, I'm jealous

I am excited for your impressions, I'm really hoping it is only mindly better than the CD T100 for obvious reasons - my wallet may leave me. I do like the understated looks of the C series and would love a T200c. But I would personally go for a Scout before trying my luck with SACD. That said...this T300 looks good enough that if it's Redbook is really insane without any mods...I may just have to wait for a used one to pop up on Audiogon. This one though is reserved for daddy's room, my son is already eyeing the T100, the T300 would be a nightmare battle

I'm also interested in your comparision of the T100, T200 and the T300.
My brother just got the T200 to replace a rega jupiter.

That would be wonderful news, but I've read all there is to read about the T300 (which isn't much), and that would seem to be a false report.

I'm curious, did they actually comment about the player's sonics in any way, or simply grab the stock photo of the T300 for their cover, thinking it might sell a few extra copies of their rag? It would be easy to see how they might assume it has SACD capabilities.

There is some confusion about the A and C series. I had always thought that the "C" represented the new color scheme, but apparently this is not the case. I asked the retailer I'm dealing with about this, and he relayed my questions to Music Hall. Here is the exchange, taken from an email forwarded to me:

"First, please define the difference between the T200A and T200C unit?"

"A, designates America, for units sold here. C, designates China."

"Second, based solely on Shanling's website photos, the T300 appears to be all silver and brushed. Please confirm."

"This is correct."

So apparently, you can get the original (gold) trim or the new (silver/grey) trim in either the A or C version for both the T100 and T200. Yet, all of Music Hall's current inventory is in the silver/grey trim, so I take it that this means the gold trim has been, or is being, phased out.

The current (received today) catalog text is a verbatim reproduction of the text on the AA web page, only with different section headings and the substitution of SACD/CD for CD. No new information.

How interesting! There is no way I could recoup the cost of my modifications in a sale, which is fine, I love my Shanling as is, but I suppose...one for the office should not be out the of question now should it?

It says SACD/CD player 4 different times in the catalog. Perhaps a phone call needs to be generated on Monday morning.
