Hands down, Arya sounds better out of my M8 than my Yggdrasil and Liquid Platinum...

with a balanced connection it will be even better. Power will be added to 800mW per channel, channel separation will be better, control, bass will become even deeper and more controlled, more powerful 😷👍
It is balanced... That is a 2.5mm adapter!!!!

Yggy and LP are up for sale. I'm done with them. Don't need it.

Can someone please tell me what a 3.5 pro socket is? Is it 3.5 balanced?

3.5Pro is balanced 3.5mm TRRS, but it has special recessed design, so normal plugs will not fit in. So be careful and only buy cables/connectors that exactly mention they are 3.5Pro compatible.

You can learn more about 3.5Pro here: http://www.erji.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2116088

OK, didn't work in chrome...switched to Edge and download worked.

I was just listening to a dff file and all of a sudden LOUD screetching noise...I had to rip the cable out of the M8...Not cool when wearing customs... the screetch was full volume...very dangerous!!!!

Thanks for report on the download issue, will check with IT.

Do you see this issues with DFF files on more files? Or was it just random one time accident?

Excellent finds! Such thing can’t even be found in the manual lol!!

We have this page with more tips/guides for our Android players, need to find moment to update it for M8, but otherwise most things are same among all our Android models:

Quick "Hi" from my side. I am a long time reader of headfi and now finally registered.

Just wanted to quickly sum up my thoughts on the M8.

Bit of history around my audio gear:

Started my journey into the audiophile rabbit hole roughly 2 years ago.
Own or have owned the following DAPs: A&K SR15/25, A&K SP1000M, Hiby R8
Headphones used with M8: Denon AH-D9200, Focal Clear, Vision Ears ve8

I have only recently acquired the Hiby R8 (about 2 months ago). One thing that I realized immediately from the R8 is the "hiss" with my beloved ve8. Reading about the lowe noise floor of the M8 in comaprison to the R8 I made the switch and boy am I happy about it.

The M8 is (in my opinion) soundwise the clear winner over the Hiby R8. Hissing aside I find the soundstage and details of the M8 are (far) superior. The bass and sub-bass are also filled with incredible warmth (you can hear, feel and taste the bass in good rock recordings). This is predominantly hearable with my Vision Ears. While they are not picky with regard to source, they are quite sensitive. Even with a 4.4mm balanced connection with the M8 they are dead silent, which was never the case (even with SE) with the Hiby R8. The M8 is great with all genres, however, one thing that stands out for me is the performance with good classical music. DSD violin recordings sound incredible (example Lisa Jacobs & String Soloists - Locatelli Violin concertos Andante).

One thing I have to say is that the UI in the Hiby R8 is even snappier than the M8, but I am glad I made the switch to the M8 and can't wait to fully burn it in and enjoy it to the fullest.

Agreed with pretty much all that you said. Especially the parts about violin and strings instruments! Yes, and about that bass!

Hi guys, how does ier-z1r pair with m8? I'm have some cash saved up for a new DAP. Initially I thought of getting cayin n6ii (e02) or hiby r8 but all the positives comments about m8 here is intriguing and got me on the fence again.
Both are warmth and with thick density, meaty bass, excellent sub bass. They may be too much ? It is a personal preferences instance, but M8 has no problem driving it

I have been using M8 as an analog source line out. The M8 performs wonderfully with the Mid and strings instruments to be very expressive, the bass is punchy and powerful. I love it more and more everyday.

How does m8 compares to dmp and 220 max? I see you are really loving your m8 eo much that I feel you admire it more then your other super high end daps?
