Shanling M6 Ultra - 4x AKM AK4493S DAC, Snapdragon 665, Android 10 DAP

Well, I debated for a while if I wanted the M6 Ultra to go with my M6 Pro AKM. In the end I went with a used M8. I feel more confident that the M8 will be more of an upgrade than an side grade, as the M6 Ultra is likely to be. Really can't go wrong with Shanling/AKM/House sound imo. I'm sure the M6 Ultra is lovely.

I've had the M6 Ultra for about a month now and just wanted to post how much I am enjoying this amazing DAP. The features, sound and build quality are very impressive and I am so glad I took the plunge into the DAP world of enjoyment. I had debated continuing to use my iPhone with camera adapter and Qudelix 5K, but now I am able to load hundreds of readily accessible songs and albums onto the M6 Ultra and take them with me wherever I venture, which is often to locations without WiFi or cell service. And it's nice just to have IEMS connected to the M6 Ultra for convenience.

Great that you’re enjoying it. I also think it’s excellent.

Have you tried it on both balanced and single ended? If so, do you find there’s a difference?

Yes I have and am now listening to the balanced output exclusively due to the improved dynamics, clarity and expansive soundstage.
I think the balanced is superior also although I usually listen on iem’s single ended and that’s pretty good. With my T60 Argon’s (full size) on balanced I think it sounds close to my Ifi micro idsd Signature which I think is absolutely excellent. Similar warm sound signature also.

Did you test wifi speed on it?

Thanks! We agree, micro iDSD Signature is on the warmer side and that's our house sound in general :)

There was so far no fix for this issue. Our software team says it works fine on our WPA2 Wi-Fi, so they didn't changed anything yet.

I would like to ask, anybody who faces issue with Wi-Fi speed, please send me in private messages info on what exact router you using. Hopefully our software team can investigate further on it.

It depends what type of classical you listening to. If you are like me and prefer big and complicated orchestral works, I think the M7 with its more technical focused sound is better choice. If you go for smaller strings or piano pieces, the warmth in M6 Ultra might work better.
Thanks. I listen to symphonies and operas and as well string pieces, e.g. Le quattro stagioni or violin pieces. Would you recommend M7 or M6U as the upgrade of my M3X?
