I have had the same issue. It is either garbled or emits no sound at all at times. I have turned it off now and don't know when or if it will ever work again. Frustrating. As much as I like the sound on the M6 Ultra I find its user interface and the Android to be uninspired and not very configurable.
What you mean with "PowerAmp"? The HeadPhone amp?
Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the Power Amp Equalizer application for Android. It is supposed to be one of the better equalizers out there. It is flakey now and pretty much unusable. As I have said, I do love the sound from the Ultra, but I think it is a really clunky experience as far as usability.What you mean with "PowerAmp"? The HeadPhone amp?
In my case it works after the update to latest version...
You can try to do a factory reset to to see if it helps.
But: I have multiple crashes during DAC via USB usage. The screen goes black and sound stops - the LCD backlight is still on, but the device is dead.
Restarting the device via log-press Power-Button "fixes" the problem and it works again for (some) time.
Bad to hear that something in Android (or the M6U-Integration) went wrong in the last version - maybe my issue with the crashing has the same root cause...
Hope for you that Shanling will fix the problem, for me, i was referring to the poweramp music player app, anyway i found how to kind of fix the problem by selecting the hi-res output plugins on the poweramp audio setting

Thank you for this message. I am not sure what I would ask them. I did a complete removal of the Power Amp Equalizer app and restored it with the latest version with the original presets. I have not changed anything in the app from the way it was before the latest Ultra update. Fortunately the M6 sounds good without the equalization!
The new update spoil the poweramp app, the update cause the poweramp app to work with no sound not the opposite

M6U connected via USB cable to notebook - switched to DAC-Mode (opposite of DISK-Mode).
Consulted with our software team, according to them it's normal that you need to enable the Hi-Res output for our players.
I would tell you but I uninstalled the Power Amp Equalizer. It was not worth the trouble. I am not going to spend anymore time on it.
