I know the feeling. I always go for the best bass enhancing filter. Super slow?

Don't worry, most of the people barely find the difference to the filters

what setting do you guys use for the low pass filter mode it came set on short delay sharp roll off, which setting sounds the best. i don't understand this setting

There is no real best setting for this, up to your personal preferences or theoretical approach.

I personally prefer sharp roll off on AKM DACs. Shanling default choice is short delay with either sharp or slow roll-off.

Really ideal to test it yourself or spend time online to study details of all the filters and concept of how DAC works(which is not that fun).

I would say that this chart from AKM is bit "questionable".

Filters are affecting how PCM data are processed in the DAC itself, so it affects all the apps.

MQA files are of course different, as they work in special way with their own filter.

It is very very nice.

I live that AKM sound best.

Roon does not seem to work on it, though. But that may not be the most valid use case.

To my ears, at least on my Kann Max, sound differences re filters are “most” noticeable in terms of decay, resonance and treble sharpness. It is subtle, very much so, but can make a fine bit of crucial difference on certain iems.
I assume your M6U is new. Give it some time, and if your iems are sufficiently revealing, you’ll likely be able to detect eventually.

Different shapes, but ultra is slightly heavier. Ultra’s screen is 5” to 4.2” on pro 21. Power is even. I’ve never heard the m6 pro 21, so I can’t say about SQ and tuning differences.

The ultra is heavier and the ultra is the the wider by a tiny bit and a little bit shorter about maybe half a inch
