Generally I would agree with you but some of the newer DAPs are so good, sometimes you wonder if spending 'big bucks' on home gear is worth it. Case in point: my Hugo 2 is an insane transportable DAC that competes with many home gear DACs. My titanium DX200 sounds as good, if not better, than my old home gear as well. I've actually gotten rid of all my home gear and stuck with a few TOTL DAPs, IEMs/in-ears, and the H2.

I'm good.

:L3000::L3000::L3000:

Um you get a lot more bang for your buck with home gear than you do with portable gear and it lasts a heck of alot longer. Alot more power on tap for full size high impedance headphones, and you don't have to worry about the battery running out. My receiver costs about what a mid priced DAP does and can do a hell of alot more for the money. Not only does my Sony receiver sound awesome for music but it also offers amazing 7.2 channel surround sound for watching movies, LDAC two way bluetooth, DLNA, ethernet, wi-fi, airplay support, streaming, google cast support etc.... I can control my A17 via LDAC with my receiver remote control

I have yet to hear any DAP that sounds better than my home system including some costing hundreds if not thousands more (hello Sony WM1Z). That is what a quality home system can do and it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

DAP like M5s has vastly different target audience than M0, so of course even the color choice will be affected like this.
But it doesn't mean there will be no other colors some time in the future.

M5s and M0 are so different players, that having both will be no problem and each will find its purpose.

What is "real flagship"? Need to throw in the most expensive chip and exotic materials for body to make one?
Also, as in any industry, there are always plans for future development, always some new players coming. If anybody thinks their new flagship player will stay like that for years to come, they are in wrong hobby.
And one last thing, just because manufacturer releases new flagship, doesn't mean the old one suddenly sounds bad. It's just in the heads of audiophiles, the never ending chase for the latest "flagship" status item

Why would flagship need some vastly different design? Just because some other brands go crazy with their flagships doesn't mean it's good or wanted. Making design to stand out of the crowd is nice for marketing, but sometimes not the best when it comes to actually using it and holding it in your hands.
Full screen body with no bezels, it's lovely trend set by smartphones, but there is no need for that in audio dedicated player.

All these specs are posted in first two posts of this thread.

Audiobooks of course can go into both systems, but while on M0 it can be considered priority considering its user base, on M5s it will be just nice feature hidden in menu for small group of people.

I acknowledged that I read you are considering adding audiobook support to the M0 my comments about the feature were not intended to be a shot at Shanling, you are at least considering it which is more the most manufacturers. It is this attention to detail and concern for your customers that will make you a great company with lots of loyal customers like I want to be.

As for flagship, the term simply means the best product a company offers in a specific category. Nowhere is it written that so called flagship DAP's must have the most expensive parts or the most esoteric designs. One companies flagship model is another companies mid-tier unit it just depends what the company wants to produce.

Looks like my kidneys crying for help.

How about the wallet?? haha

In all seriousness, I think it's an IEM.. probably universal. Wonder if it will be bundled with the M5s

My wallet is empty so I'm looking at my kidneys right now and they know what I'm up to.....
I feel like humans can survive on 1 kidney.. but don't take my word for it! Decide which kidney u can live without!

I just want a M1 sized DAP.
With Shanling GUI.

Looks like I will have to go with the new kickstarter Dap just released.

Sorry Shanling but you went the wrong way for me this time.
Everyone who was a fan of m5 has been waiting for M5s , I think based on product life of previous shanling daps M1 is still young.

Well, unfortunately we don't have resources to throw 5 different players on the market at same time, so fulling up the line up takes some time.
