New firmware update available for Shanling M3X Android player.

Firmware is ready for OTA update, but download speeds might be quite low, due to high demand.

Full updated notes and download links for manual update: https://en.shanling.com/article-MarchUpdateAndro.html

Any update on european availability (outside UK)? Thanks.

They will be available through out March. I believe France and Benelux should be getting it first.

Does the M3X's 4.4mm balanced jack use the grounding wire? I have a few cables with 2.5mm plugs and would prefer to buy an adapter over new cables, if possible.

Any plans to go Android 8.1 at least. I'd like to buy one but not sure how long Android 7 will be supported by google.

No, grounding pin on 4.4mm is not used. You can simply use adapter with your 2.5mm connectors.

Really can't promise anything in regards to system upgrade.

Thank you! Is there anyway by which I can lock the sample rate?

For some reason, Spotify podcasts jump into 384KHz (Spotify streams go to 48KHz) and makes the sound stretched out or very stutter-y. Spotify podcasts currently work when I use an Aftershokz Aeropex with it as a Bluetooth headset, however. Additionally, when switching from streaming YouTube to streaming a Spotify podcast and back, the same stutter-y noise comes out of the DAP. The sample rate went from 48KHz on YouTube to 384KHz on a Spotify podcast and back to 48KHz on YouTube. Closing and opening the YouTube app fixed the stuttering.

I'd like to listen to Spotify podcasts with my earbuds, as an option. What solutions can you recommend? If it helps, I'm using the 3.5mm jack.

Tested it out and not seeing such issue, songs playing at 44.1kHz. Some podcasts at 44.1, some at 48kHz.

Can you tell me what exact podcast did you tried? And online streaming or offline?

Podcast is "History of Philosophy without any Gaps". Try Episode 123. The streaming was online when this happened.

So what happens if Spotify or Tidal suddenly stops supporting Android 7 tomorrow?
Do you guys at least have a backup plan?
Or are we basically screwed?

Even if you can’t promise anything, at least let us know what’s happening in the OS version area. Whether the software department are still in the midst of testing Android 9, or there are no plans or work at all being done on the OS part. Or Google doesn’t want to give the license or anything.

Also, it seems that there's a 1 second fade-in for starting or continuing songs on Spotify, foobar2k, and the default Shanling player app. Since this is happening across multiple apps, I'm lead to believe that it's an M3X setting rather than an app-specific one. Has anyone been able to find the appropriate option in settings to resolve this? I've looked around in the options in the Audio section and can't find it there.

Additionally, is there a way for me to pick one launcher over the other permanently rather than having to set it to "Always" for each time I turn on the DAP? Thank you in advance.
