The comment of one guy under unboxing video on youtube:
Dx180 sounds a bit wider, a bit more spacious, less warm, more neutral bright, leaner in note weight. M3+ sounds warmer, fuller, more intimate
If it’s so. I’m very interested in this dap.

That's you, for me the differences in tuning are large. I appreciate you are not me, and your preferences are different. But blanket statements like 'differences in tuning between DAPs are minor' come across as you telling me how it is, so my experience is somehow wrong. I advise using language like, 'for my ears, the difference in tuning is not large'. Yes, the entire signal chain is important. I also buy iem's suited to the rest of the signal chain. For me, the other stuff doesn't matter, if it's a little laggy, but sounds better then the next one in the price range, I am fine with that. I only use the gear for music. If I had to turn a crank to get the thing going, and the sound was better at the price, I would buy it. Again, we are all different.
Okey, this situation is bothering me and I will get off topic for a second. People on these threads are from all over the world, in many cases english is not their first language and we also express ourselves differently sometimes depending an where we live. There are people on these threads from all age groups which creates generational gaps in communication. I am almost 61 years old which means I grew up before the internet and social media. I am use to communicating with people face to face or on the phone. I struggle with social media and I tend to post like I talk and I come from a generation that speaks directly, I am what is known as a Baby Boomer. Lots of you are Gen-Z, Gen-Y (millennial) and now Gen-A and I struggle to understand and communicate with my nieces and nephews due to the generation gaps.

It will never be my intention to speak for anyone else on these threads regardless of how my posts are received. Despite how I may come across and sometimes I don't always choose the perfect words. Please indulge this old man, cause at my age I am not likely to change. I truly enjoy helping people so I tend to get very wordy and detailed in my posts. Sometimes that can come off as being sanctimonious or preachy, not my intent at all.

I think if we all assume that responses to our posts are the responders opinions only. Assume they are not trying to tell us we are right or wrong, simply giving their opinions, and accept that sometimes they don't always express themselves appropriately or clearly we can avoid conflicts like this one.

I love the fact that all of us on these threads live in different countries, come from different backgrounds and generations. We can all offer wonderful perspectives that aren't available outside these threads. To steal a famous quote "Can't we all just get along".

@ToneDeafMonk Can you please compare M3+ and Cayin N3 Ultra in solid state. At least from a memory, briefly. My friend has Ultra, so I’m familiar with it sound.
I will put that player in the mix for comparison

The M21 is now listed on 3 dealers sites in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). The dealer I demoed the JM21 at indicates it will be in stock end of May at $429.99 CDN. If I wanted to get my hands on an M3 Plus to do a comparison what are my options right now? It is listed on amazon.com at $668.03 CDN plus shipping. It says it is shipping from Shanling agent so I am assuming from Shanling in China. The question is if I order it on amazon.com shipping to Canada will it ship straight to Canada or go through Amazon US warehouse first and possibly have additional charges added?

Putting all the other arguments aside in choosing the M3 Plus or the M21 availability is also a big factor. If I really wanted to give the M3 Plus a fair evaluation and still be able to return it if I don't want to keep it how can I do that, at least by the end of May or early June so I can compare it with the M21?

I'm really interested in the comparison of the Ibasso Dx180, Shanling M3 Plus and Fiio M21.

Im leaning towards the M21 because theyre using all the same DAC chips and the amp side I think are similar? Price wise the M21 is the lowest so it seems like the best buy.

Just want to see if people were able to compare them. From what I can tell the Dx180 has the best sound with wider SS and holographic nature. Depends on if the sound differences is worth the extra money. Shanling seems to be a warmer house sound while Fiio is more neutral with bass boost from what I read.
