It's really big of you to agree to come along, professor. Are you going to bring your new little Nano as your semi-portable source?

Which is the better less-traffic route to take to get to Marin from the south - going through SF/Golden Gate (101) or taking the in-land route (880)? The two routes look about the same distance-wise from SJ.

From San Jose I would go 280->19th Avenue->GG Bridge. IMO it's also lots prettier and lower-stress than the 880 route.

On summertime weekends this route gets backed up from tourist/GG Bridge traffic, but by this time of year it should be fine.

Having done the trip + inverse many times.
I'd concur. Going up the east bay certainly isn't as pretty as 280. Bay Bridge maze is always problematic.

280 North typically starts to slow just before you reach the Stonestown Galeria,
then its stop/go due to the traffic lights all the way up 19th Avenue - but at least it moves.

No toll northbound on the GG - its $5 southbound -or $4 with FasTrak.
Richmond / San Rafael Bridge - $3 toll westbound, no toll eastbound.

If you can spare the time, and its a nice day, play tourist and check out the iconic view from Vista Point. Immediate first (right) exit after GG Bridge. Watch out for the tourists. Don't forget to bring your camera. 10 minutes well spent.

Adding to my equipment list: a portable DVD player, Micro DAC and a Gilmore Lite V2. The DVD player->optical->Micro DAC seems to make an acceptable* CD source. I'll tie the three amps I'm bringing (GLite, HeadFive, Go-Vibe 5) together to make the whole thing one multi-output rig.

*Oddly murky-seeming, though. Maybe it's just my ears this morning.

But Eddie / Craig / Eddie Current Will be coming.

He says he will bring up a Zana Duex, the proto HD30, EC/SS, Moth Hyper DAC, and a couple of the Russian Lunch Box amplifiers to blow out as meet specials for $125.00 if anyone is interested.
