Besides the fostex and Jot what other amps have you heard the 650's with?

Any good OLT amp Valhalla 2,bottlehead crack speedball,woo wa3,darkvoice...ext.s should sound great.I have heard the Valhalla and darkvoice I liked the Valhalla better the darkvoice was to warm for me but others love it.

I don't think there has been a drop with this much interest before. Been on Massdrop for a long time now though and participated in many of the high interest buys however and I've gotten a feel for the requesturchase ratio, if other very popular drops are any indication (WhiteFox keyboard, Granite keyset, a few exclusive/expensive watches with 20~ drop limit, etc) and Massdrop's 5000 limit is actually firm (they increase it more often than not) then I'd expect these to last like 3 to 4 hours before they're a goner, depends how many Europeans will feel it is worth buying these over the $300 standards we can buy off of Amazon UK.

If I get the HD 6XX Massdrop cans @ $199, plus a Schiit Modi Multibit @ $249 and Schiit Jotunhem @ $399 for a total of $847, am I g2g?  BTW, I currently have no amps at all and only a Audioquest Black 1.5 DAC.   Would any upgraded USB or balanced cables be helpful for this setup? --Running Win7 PC and mostly FLAC files.

I have read so many good things about the multibit, is it not worth the extra $150?  It would be nice to compare with/without the integrated DAC, and I could order both from Shiit, but I would be paying a 5% restocking fee to return one.

Is this better setup than the multibit DAC?  Its $150 price difference.

are you saying that the balanced setup is better for the HD650 as the Jotun(incl DAC) vs multibit (non-balanced) + Jotun w/out DAC.  I do remember reading in the Jotun thread that there was not much difference in SQ between balanced/non due to design of Jotunheim.

Huge difference in SQ with the balanced cable & Jot using HD800S & Ether C HPs in my personal experience.

Even a small difference can make all the difference. Better is better. Once you hear it, it's hard to go back. General consensus is that balanced is preferred when available.

What are the differences between the standard 650 and mass drop 650, if any? The mass drop description suggests there are a few mass drop exclusive tweaks of some kind.
