Hi,

I recently bought the Sennheiser RS220 wireless headphones. As I'm using them with my onboard laptop sound card (with a Toslink to S/PDIF cable), I'm wondering if the sound quality could be somehow improved by adding a good external USB sound card (thinking for example of Asus Xonar Essence STU or Essence One) or a DAC & Amp combo.

Thanks in advance!

You should get the best quality from a digital signal (optical or coaxial digital) straight from the source, without a DAC in the chain because the base transmits the signal to the headphones digitally.  If you add a DAC, the signal will be unnecessarily converted to analog and back, resulting in signal degradation.
