GOODEVENING HEADFI COMMUNITY, IM KIND OF NEW HERE
o2smile.gif
BUT IM READING A LOT OF THE THREADS AND DISCUSSION HERE IN THE COMMUNITY..AND IT REALLY IS A GOOD FEELING TO SHARE AMONG MUSIC ENTHUSIASTS LIKE ME. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME IN DECIDING WHICH OF THESE TWO CANS ARE BETTER FOR 'METAL' MUSIC LIKE KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, PARKWAY DRIVE, AS I LAY DYING, AND OTHER DJENT & DEATHCORE BANDS WHICH HAS A LOT OF COMPLEXITIES IN THEIR SONGS.. MEANING BETTER MID CLARITY AND INSTRUMENTAL SEPARATION...WHICH AMONG THE TWO DO YOU THINK IS BETTER? I DONT CARE MUCH ABOUT BASS..AND ISOLATION..I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHICH SOUND IS BETTER FOR MY MUSICAL TASTE? AND PLEASE DONT SUGGEST HIGHER END CANS BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET A HOLD OF THEM..
bigsmile_face.gif
I WILL KINDLY APPRECIATE AND RESPECT ALL YOUR OPINION..THANKS!

AND WHICH DO YOU PREFER THE BLACK OR WHITE ONES? :)

I'm a metalhead (actually that's an understatement, metal is my life) I would recommend sennheiser over the marshal major due to the fact sennheisers are known for being rather smooth. Metal music can be very harsh and i think a more neutral/flat headphone would be better. (personally i like a boasted bass/recessed mids/boasted treble also known as v shaped signature for metal. I haven't heard either of these cans unfortunately. If you can get your hands on some grado's i would get them.

METAL IS YOUR LIFE MEANING YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN A BAND? IVE HEARD THAT GRADO IS REALLY SUITED FOR METAL.. SO WHAT HEADPHONES ARE YOU USING FOR HEADBANGING?
L3000.gif
AND WHY DO YOU LIKE RECESSED MIDS? I DONT LIKE MY ATH SJ33 AT ALL BEACUSE OF LACKLUSTER QUALITY IN MIDS AND TREBLE..IT SOUNDS MUDDY..I GUESS ITS THE SENN'S THEN..

Unfortunately no, But i would love to start one. What i meant by metal is my life is that my life revolves around music and that music is 95% heavy metal. I use sennheiser hd 25 1 ii for heavy metal and head banging. They are built like a tank and are very aggresive and fun. Yes mids are important for metal but i find if you increase the bass it adds kick to the drums and if you add treble it increases the power of the guitar and emphasizes hi hats and cymbals. Mids you have vocals and guitars and other instruments. I don't recess it hugely but a slight v shaped sound signature is what is best for me. I also own some grado ms1's and they are quite good for metal as well. That is why i recommend them. They can be had for $99 us. They ship worldwide. They are mid and high based with laid back bass. They are not for everyone. Hope i helped.

You can order the MS1 here

Can you still get the PX100? It seems like they are very hard to find, as the PX100-ii has replaced it quite a while ago. The PX100-II is said to have more bass and less detail than the original. On the plus side it seems to be built sturdier and has a single side cord.

I don't know anything about the Marshall Major.

The PX100 sounds warm overall. Its main benefit is having decent bass and being compact and open. A closed headphone is a very different beast. There are many closed headphones. They are much bulkier than the PX100 and isolate(which could be a good thing or a bad thing). You need to decide if you want a neutral sound signature, or one that is warm or one that is bright. A good neutral closed headphone is the Sony V6. It will give bass that goes deeper than the PX100. There are other headphones to explore depending on your sound preference and budget.

Also, please stop shouting. Using all capital letters is shouting.

Lol sorry for the capital letters.. :)

Aww thats too bad i thought px100 is still available. I heard px100-ii is not as good as the original so im quite hestitant.. I want to try an open can because i already have a closed can (my ath sj33) and i want to appreciate the difference of sound between an open and a closed one.. i live in the philippines so its hard for me to find that Koss Portapros they are talking about. I only see lots of sennheisers and philips here. The most popular here are 'beats by dre' which are kinda "meh"

Wow those are a bunch of true metal i can say, i also like old Children of Bodom (follow the reaper) and Kataklsym..in the past i was also addicted to Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of filth.. can i ask what age are you sir? Right now i am kind of into the slightly modern metal bands like Lamb of God, Whitechapel (deathcore you might say), and Djent bands like Periphery, Aristeia, Bulb and etc.. I understand some real metalheads dont like this because stupid teenage kids buy this kind of music without appreciating it.. I can say that these bands are also creative in their own way. Though many bands today really have no talent and mostly suck.

I am 19. Ya you are correct. 90% of nu metal, metalcore, deathcore, i can't stand. But to each their own.
I wouldn't go as far as to not call them metal i just call them poser metal. But that's not because teenagers like it that's because i find the music bland and repetitive.
