I currently own the PX-100 headphones and like the sound and comfort. After reading comments on the HD-555 I would like to upgrade. What are the differences I will hear with the HD-555's. How is the comfort compared to the PX-100's? I mainly listen to jazz on my MacBook Pro computer and iPod 5.5
Where is the best place to purchase the HD-555's new. Thanks

Nah!.. I was in the same situation and when I heard HD555 I was disapointed because the SQ difference was subtle. I'm sorry px100 is just too good for a cheap little headphone. Its really hard to upgrade. Save money and buy a hd595 or amp+hd580 like me...

PX100 is like EUR 50 up here, so I can not call it cheap. Koss KSC75 are cheap, but not in sound, imo.

Plus the x100 is easily driven without an amp, most DAP's do not have the juice to get a satisfying sound out of the HD555/595.

PX100 were the first set of decent headphones I got, and the money spent was worth it. Haven't heard any better sounding headphones at that price range.

And, being really small and portable, they fit the requirement of portable use as well.

For the cheapest possible price, you want to go used. Look on the For Sale forum here, and on your local Craigslist. If you prefer to buy your headphones new, Amazon generally has great prices.

Youve got to be kidding. The 555s are at least double the headphone the px100 is. the detail and top end sparkle are nowhere to be found on the px100s
