Sennheiser Orpheus has blown my mind!
Jan 29, 2013 at 4:24 PM Post #61 of 80
Has anyone heard both the Orpheus system and a Stax SR-009 system (with an amp life BHSE, LL, etc.)? What similarities and differences did you notice? I heard the SR-009 for the first time this past weekend (paired with a Cavalli LL), and was very impressed. It's probably the next headphone I'll buy. It would interesting to see how the two compare.

I had the opportunity to listen to the STAX 009 via the Blue Hawaii SE and both the design, weight, and sound of the entire system from headphone to amp was simply stunning.  I think if Audeze could make their headband like the STAX 009 the LCD-3 ( light weight ) would sound very close through a good balanced amp  like the BUDA.

Anyone know if the bumps at 80 Hz and 1.1 kHz are intentional from the STAX 009?

Anyone wanting to compare some charts between the LCD-3 and 009 can look here:

There is no doubt the STAX is quicker and has better treble extension.  The quickness may be due to the amp more than the headphone.

Anyone have the Orpheus measurements?

@jackskelly

If you are serious about the 009 you owe it to yourself to try it with the Blue Hawaii SE.

Please read here for some other amps we listened to with the 009:

I am very much so, I've heard it paired with the Cavalli Liquid Lightning, which sounded amazing. The Blue Hawaii SE is the amp most often mentioned as great with the SR-009, maybe I can try that out sometime if I find someone who has it. I'll probably get one of those two if I end up getting the SR-009. I know they take a while to build, so I'll probably have to wait 3-6 months for either once I order it.

I love this guy

.

I hardly have money to buy regular Jack every week, what with piling college debts and all; being a scotch connoisseur is hardly my forte. That being said, I can appreciate a decent whiskey/scotch and DO NOT tell me Glenlivet is in the same league as Beats. It is anything but pedestrian.

Anyways, I don't want to be pedantic about my liquors - I know what I like and I'm fine by it. Now back to the phones...

I asked for picture of the headphones with piece of paper with my name and current date and possibility to collect headphones in person.
That what he answered :

"Hi

I am sorry but hand delivery will not be possible also the requested photo.
I am currently abroad in Greece because of a contract for 6 months, because I work on many projects to reduce urban pollution / greenhouse in the European Communities.
But I spoke with a member of my family and she confirmed to me that can handle well all the steps necessary for a shipment.

Thank you,
Remi "

1000% CHEATER !!!!!!!

I spoke with ebay representative about that but he did not care too much.

The postage alone is about ten times cheaper than what you usually have to dish out with the Orphs.

But I think his plea makes sense. He's away in the Communities and his member of family is a ghost who can't unlock the door to their house, so local pick-up can't be done for sure. The DHL guy has the key but he's strict about confidentiality.

Though if the pictures are someone else's, you could get him for copyright.

these guys must still be profitable if they keep doing this and never go poor. i wonder what kind of person still falls for this type of scam these days. you could almost write a script to detect and filter these guys out of any online correspondence. they're always unavailable to do any kind of verification but always have a family member or a friend ready to ship whatever it is they're [not] selling, just as soon you wire your money to an anonymous account via untraceable means.

^Which amp is it in the last pic?

Personally, the 009 has blown my mind, has set me on a dangerous path.
