Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 Impressions Thread

Does anyone know when bluetooth switching between devices will be implemented? This is really the big weakness of this IEM.

If I want to watch a video on the iPad Pro, I have get the iPhone out of my pocket, search for the iPhone app, open the iPhone app, change the source. This is too many steps.
While a multipoint bluetooth implementation would be nice sooner rather than later, you don't need that many steps for that (and neither your iPhone in that example).

When you have them in your ears, press both touch surfaces simultaneously to put them into pairing mode. Then, on your iPad, just click on the MTW3 in the Bluetooth settings. That's it.

I have been putting them into pairing mode *tap and hold both earpieces at the same time, until voice tells you pairing is engaged* then select MTW3 from the iPad's BT menu (long tap after the swipe). No need to disconnect using the app on the initial device, and this no need to remove the pocketed device. I also do this switching from Galaxy S22 to Mac Mini, as the Mac OS Bluetooth management with "remembered" devices is temperamental.

Regardless, I'll be sure to send along the feedback to the team and if feature updates come along, we'll announce it ASAP.

You really shouldn't have to put TWS into pairing mode to switch devices. I don't have to do this with any of my current TWS in rotation (B&W PI7, Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, Samsung Galaxy Buds2, Shure TW2, Sony Linkbuds). I just select the device from the bluetooth menu of my source (currently Google Pixel 6, LG V60, Samsung S22+, Dell XPS laptop) and it automatically pulls the buds away from the old ource and connects. Otherwise, this would be really annoying with multiple sources. I am supposed to get my white MTW3 from Best Buy tomorrow (canceled Amazon order even though it was cheaper since it was taking too long). Will have to test this out.

Edit: I can confirm you need to enter pairing mode or disconnect each time in order to connect to a new device. This is really annoying since my main phone (Galaxy S22+) does not have aptX adaptive but my V60, which I usually use for audio does. It means I cannot easily switch between phones if I get a call. Any update on multi-point, which would solve this issue? Everything else on the MTW3 works really well so I am surprised Sennheiser did not think of this.

Finally arrived! Side by side with some of the TWS I currently use with the original MTW thrown in for size comparison (I stopped using these long ago due to battery drain and because you cant just use the left ear independently). Still haven't had time to actually listen yet since I am still updating firmware I but while I was about to start the 21 minute update, my HVAC repair guy called to let me know he was on his way so I took the call with the new MTW3 and he seemed to hear me fine, which is a good start.

EDIT 1:
Some initial thoughts: I prefer the soundstage of the MTW3 vs. PI7, which sound a bit narrower and intimate to me. They also sound more balanced than the PI7, which I found to have a bit more bass than I liked, and the original MTW, which had way too much bass for me (but sounded great EQ'd). Will have to play around with the EQ when I have some time.

Comfort: I am using stock tips on the MTW3 and I prefer this new form factor to the original MTW (Final Type E tips) and the PI7 (Final Type E TWS tips). They are super comfortable and I like the shallow tips it came with.

ANC: definitely better than the PI7, which only had decent ANC. I am not much of an ANC guy so this is fine great for me and cancels noise from my AC effectively (I can still hear the AC with my PI7).

Transparency Mode: having to use the app to toggle ambient mode on the PI7 is what really drove me crazy about those. MtW3 ambient mode works and sounds great and the touch controls are very responsive and customizable. Great job on this. I mentioned this in a previous post but it would be nice if you could automatically have Transparency Mode turn on when music is paused. Currently, you can have music pause when Transparency Mode is turned on but not the other way around.

Case: it is the bulkiest of all my TWS except the Shure TW2 and is a hair thicker than the original MTW case. Glad Sennheiser finally included wireless charging but hopefully they can make the case smaller in future versions. I much prefer the form factor of thee PI7 case for portability.

EDIT 2:
These do not have aptX HD and will only connect via aptX to my Pixel 6, which does not support aptX adaptive. AptX adaptive works great on LG V60.

Also, not sure if this is a bug but I have the MTW3 paired to my Galaxy S22+ and LG V60 and the app seems to struggle with reconnecting when switching between phones. I also had to remove my original MTW from the pairing list to get the app to connect to my MTW3 (not sure why).

Congrats and welcome to the #MTW3Club - glad to hear they arrived and you got to put them to quick use. I also use them with an S22+ ...so far a great and reliable combo for me, although as mentioned my switching occurs with MacOS and iPad OS devices.

To everyone else in the club, firmware version 2.6.8 is available for download; for those in the Smart Control app, tap over to settings and update, if you weren't already prompted.

Any download link for firmware version 2.6.8?
It takes place thru the Smart Control app; make sure you're in it and the MTW3 are paired AND have an active connection. Tap the settings and you'll see a prompt (see attached screenshot, bottom right)

These tabletop caliper measurements might help those who are researching 3P tips for rollin' the MTW3.

Let's start with narrowest "pipe" of the nozzle: 5.6mm (outermost) ⬇️

...and then the innermost diameter of the eartips' shaft is: 5.53mm

...so that we can see that the rim around the nozzle is ~1mm tall...

....and that it's 6.22mm from it's outermost edge to the other (the widest 1mm section of the nozzle)...

... For the remaining 2mm (which takes the nozzle's total length ~3mm)

Ant news on a new firmware update. These don’t disconnect half the time and have found the right ear been totally flat because of it. iPhone X iOS 15.5.

Not amused as the versions 2 never had this problem. It’s been 3 times so far been flat and now I have and try and remember to look on the iPhone to see if they have disconnected.

I have eleven opened the lid and pushed down on the ear Pieces to see the d it’s a bad connection. But it does not fix it have to remove them and place them back In for them to disconnect.
Hope they get this sorted and soon.

I have these since wednesday. Love the fitting. Great sound quality too.
But…..
Is it correct I need to pair them with my iphone everytime I want to use them?
Pairing is also settings in the iphone not only touching both pods?
Thanks
Welcome to the #MTW3Club! Your MTW3 and phone will remember each other, but if you connect a lot of other BT audio devices to that same audio source device, the priority order will change and you may simply find it faster to re-pair than wade through menus while waiting to see if your device will manage it in a timely fashion.
