Dan (judging from his sig) owns both the 650 and Momentums, while you're , I guess, relying on your memory of what they sound like.

And I would politely disagree. If you absolutely had to compare them and taking out quality of sound, the Momentum is very fast for a Senn can with some other very obvious differences (closed vs open) and the HD650 is extremely laid back and slow. Just extremely different.

As to not discredit you at all, I understand SQ is a personal and subjective thing, so I'm not surprised there's disagreement. Different ears, different... hears?

If your assumption helps you invalidate my opinion in your head, have at it.

Anyone with Momentums ever trid the Creative Aurvana Live or Denon D1001 (not D1101)?

Trying to gauge the size difference of the ear cups. The CAL was on the small side, but it didn't bother me. I want the Momentum, but wanna make sure the size is comparable and not smaller.

Momentums are amazing for trance. The right amount of bass and treble. It's such a joy listening to A State of Trance 600 with them!

Yep, and the good thing about this discussion is that it's prompted me to dust off the ol' HD650 and listen to it more. It really is a great headphone.

oi hd 598s came in today. two completely different sound signatures, yet so awesome in their own regards. I don't think I'll be needing any more upgrades for a while :)

Smaller. Or at least it feels like that, but it might be because the CAL pads are softer and more squishy, I didn't have my verniers with me.

MLE, check out the Sony MDR-1R as an alternative. Tyll just did his review for it today and threw it on the Wall of Fame as "the best all around portable, around the ear headset." That's saying a lot considering the company.

I agree with Tyll's assessments...especially where he says the Momentums are the better headphones.
