I have a Fiio X5II, and like the sound, but I am really curious about this chord mojo.  Especiallly how it pairs with ie800.

It pairs very nicely. You liked the Hugo? This is very similar, tiniest bit more forgiving as a smidgen warmer.

It could prove to be a greater companion, given that it is much cheaper than Hugo.

I still am curious for Fiio X7 too, as it might actually be a better all in one device experience.

I am reluctant to having to stack, even less so considering that no interconnect can go from X5II to mojo without 1 M of cable, if you want to use it as DAC+AMP.

Not true, 10th of a metre? Made for X5ii to mojo!

I sold a pair of JH-16's a while back and bought the IE800's last week. The difference was obvious from the onset.  To me the 800's sounded thin, lacking clear midrange and muddy bass. This coupled with the fact that I kept fidgeting with them to keep a good seal means I'm returning them.  For those looking for a tip on alternative tips.  I removed the silicone rubber from the 800's (easy to do) and de-cored a set of Shure foams (not so easy, but works) and placed the Shure foams onto the 800's core with great success. Although it worked, it removed some of the midrange and highs to a great degree.  I'm guessing you could do the same with many foam tips on the market.

I had stepped out of head-fi for a few years to work on my home setup.  I'm now awaiting a set of JHA Roxanne's to go with my new AK120 replacing my old RWA iMod to get back into it.

So, are you in kindergarten or the first grade?

The Cowon P1 will make the ie800 shine better than the Mojo.

You certainly have something against the mojo in various threads. You not like a natural analogue-like sound? Prefer enhanced warmness I assume, if you like the Cowon? Your comments come over as fact rather than opinion.

To my ears, and that's all any of us can say, X5 plus Mojo plus ie800s is a lovely match if you like a natural sound but no rolling off of the treble.

Agreed the Mojo is good but not great and the P1 can do a better job but you can go get the Mojo and a AK.

What are the best replacement tips in your opinions for the IE800? Mine keeps dropping out with the larger small tip but wont seal properly with the smaller medium (the tips are too large). I've been looking at comply's and LEAR custom tips.

Custom tips baby!  They never fall out.  Great seal.  But you risk them looking like hearing aids.
