Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Hey guys I got my replacement back (brand new pair serial # 27XXX) and it seems like these are defective or something.. The bass doesn't seem to have that really deep thump and the treble is kinda harsh that it hurts my ear. Could they be defective? My old pair that I sent it sounded so good (right out of the box no burn in)

Propably a fit/seal issue? Because that's what I experience with every bass iem if I don't get a proper fit.

As Sennheiser should have a good quality control, a defective pair seems unlikely.

I assume you are using the same tip size, are you?

I'd suggest you to put them in your ear, pull up your auricle and hold that position, insert the iems deeper and release the auricle. You should be hearing a low-pitched-vibrating sound when humming with inserted iems.

^^ It's not a fit issue 100% and still using the same size tips (I actually kept the tips I use and sent them the one I don't use) .. It's a really noticeable sound difference.. i have to crank my dap very high to get any bass..

The other pair you got was brand new and it had a different signature out of the box?

The human brain could adjust itself differently to what you have been using in the meanwhile.

So, what did you use before buying your first pair, and what did you use before receiving the second pair?

Also, there is a chance that you might have forgotten a EQ turned on while your ie800 were away, as using other iems or headphones you might had felt the need to pump up the treble, or turn down the bass.

Yes my other pair was brand new as well (sealed box) didn't listen to anything else while waiting for my replacement.. I thought it might just be in my head as well but am sure it's not.. This one song I listen too, the deep bass thump sound so good and effortless, with this new pair, the bass is not there.. Eq is flat.. Never changed.. Am gonna contact sennhesier tomorrow and see what they say.. Thanks for the help guys..

Judging by the price and the article name ('Sennheisei IE800') I highly doubt that the seller is selling genuine iems.

It's gone now anyway but I would seriously question a seller who can't spell Sennheiser correctly!

^^^

I guess the 'typo' was made on purpose for two reasons:
1: make it more complicated for Sennheiser/ebay to find the fakes through the search engine
2: if the customer discovers that he ourchased a fake item, the seller could respond that he was never selling Sennheiser products.

I agree with you here.

Maybe it is not even illegal to sell them as he changed the name of the brand.

If I were sennheiser, I think that I could sue them only for image abusal / package usage. In rest, I think that as long as they do not advertise the name sennheiser, it is pretty hard to do anything.

I'm quite happy that only authorized dealers are allowed to sell them here in Germany and there are, to my surprise, plenty of them.
But even if unauthorized dealers were allowed to sell them, I would have only bought from a store I have trust in and prior experience with, just as I did with the rest of my ~50 headphones (except for the PX 100 which was sort of my first headphone about 10 years ago which I bought from a UK-based seller on Amazon).

Though it is a pity that Amazon Germany itself is no authorized distributor I'm quite satisfied with the one I bought them from as they gave me a pretty good deal for a factory-new, unopened A-stock model from the latest batch when I bought them in fall/winter last year after I just politely asked them for their lowest price, I didn't even have to negotiate.

That is quite the thing...

How exactly do you ask for the lowest price, if you are a customer who buys only one product?

I might be interested in a negotiation method for buying a single product at once.
