Hej. Thank you very much for your opinion M-13 - also i was able to get some FiiO products in meantime, some of them sound good - but for me (tested fiio e17) sound is too aggressive (with super sensitive IE 800) so i will definitely go for iBasso and let you know as soon as possible. X1 or X5 should be great products but i also really do not like FiiOs look
Have a nice day!

If you're looking for a DAC/amp, the TEAC HA-P50 pairs wonderfully with super sensitive IEMs.

Yeah the E17 has that Fiio house sound that I hate now (super bassy, with recessed upper-mids, thick and muddy/veiled sounding). The X3 is also kinda like this but a little less, but the X5 is very different. It is the most neutral of Fiio products to date. I've owned a lot of Fiio and they really did try to make this one neutral. It has just hint of that Fiio sound, and pretty much none after long burn-in and ownership. I consider it fairly neutral. But yeah the DX90 is probably the better DAP for sonics and the IE800, but the X5 isn't far behind.

Hey guys. Just got my own pair of IE800 - sound great out of any source to be honest, however, just wanna find out something "recommended" for this nice IEMs.

However, i am limited to one Eshop so i got to pick some of these:

iBasso DX50
NuForce Icon
NuForce Icon HDP
iBasso DX90
Astell & Kern AK100
FiiO X1
FiiO X3

What do you think guys?

I use mine with a DX50, really love the pairing.

Thank you! Unfortunately this HW is not available in eshop i need to use to buy. However, great to know, definitely keep my eye on this HW.

Already loading music to my Ibasso, i will let you know ASAP however, read some articles about burn in of this DAP. 400h? Pretty sick dont you think? Is this really necessary?  Also my IE800 got only few hours as well.. do they need some time to get to the limit?

Thank you

Yes.That's why ibasso has provided a burn in cable.Ie800 being a dynamic driver also needs burn in,at least 100 hours for the treble to become less hot and piercing but don't drive yourself crazy about it.Just listen to them normally. It's fun hearing the subtle changes with time.

Hello.

Just tried some DaftPunk, unburned everything almost out of box and i must say, i am really, but really impressed! Huge difference! E17 is not even close (to be honest my integrated sound card from my laptop sound better for me than E17 for IE 800, dont get me wrong, E17 can handle some dark sounding cans with great result, however, definitely not suited for for balanced IE 800 ) Using mid gain at the moment, will be back with you after some burn in.

Also thanks again for great iBasso DX90 recommendation!

With İbasso players IE800 is not good as A&K players.I suggest AK100-120 old.And if you have much money, you can buy AK240 too.

But I used it AK100 and AK120.Specially with AK120 match was so good.

NO.At that point if he wants better sound quality he can save up for chord hugo and not give $2500 for a slight upgrade that by most opinions ak240 is.Ak120 and dx90 are comparable according to many users and professional reviewers depending the tonality you prefer.

I don't know,what you said.Which review ? I don't think,you can compare DX90 with AK120(old).Yes you can compare with AK100(old) but not AK120(old).

IMO it is not fair. They are in different classes.AK120(old) is much better than DX90 and I didn't try AK240(stock).

And RWAK240 is much better than AK120.

There are others if you search the web or if you go to dx90 thread there are users who have both and put them as equal.

Now your $3000 rwak240 is no doubt better than dx90,ak120 so you can sleep easy

I have owned the ie 800 and loved the sound (from a 1 dynamic driver, great engineering!). However i couldn't get a good fit, thanks to the silly proprietary tips...I have the se846 and could not be happier, fit is perfect, and has a lush full sound - the ie 800 has a little airiness to the treble, But i actually find myself preferring the 846 as the treble area is not at 'thin' sounding like ie 800, just nice rich and full....the mids and bass on 846 blows away any iem I've heard...hope that helps!
