Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Well I got an e-mail from their tech support and then got redirected to a product specialist who was very helpful in getting my IE800's replaced!  I just got the new ones and the cable does indeed appear to be more flexible on the upper.  Hopefully they stay this way...

What happend your old IE800 ? And did Sennheiser replace with new ones immediately ?

The upper portion of the cable was stiff(er) than the lower portion... so much so that it retained the shape of the case after having it in storage for a while.  Sennheiser just asked me to send back the old ones and once they received them they promptly sent out new ones to me.  I just got them today and the upper portion of the cable does seem to be more flexible than the last ones but I'll have to keep an eye on them after having them in wrapped up in the case for a while.  Hopefully these new ones don't have as many shape retention issues in the cable.

I'm not really sure how to best explain the problem I had with the old ones so if anyone understood what I just wrote and knows a better way to explain then please do!

oh well that doesnt mean anything but like what others said, you gotta pay first, plus I'm trading with someone else when he received it i'll ask him to prove it and see who's right,if you dont have a brain to understand then go to hell. I tried to prove it and I even sent the receipt but when you ignored me and i barely got to cancel it in time.Whatever I don't give a ____ about you.

^ Might be a good idea to take your exchange of niceties with collateral to PM.

I have a question, do the ports let these be semi open or have less of a suction seal. I have a weird issue with footfall noise when iems totally seal and this or the jh13 ambient at both possibilities. That amazon sale is getting me ready to jump too

Nope. They are tiny vents to release the build up of resonance and allow air back into the chamber. They don't make them semi open, anymore than the vent ports some closed back headphones have make them semi open.

You'll still get that IEM footfall thing, but I have found that a week with a new IEM and my brain has somehow tuned it out.

Muffle the sound though

Maybe my ears aren't as sensitive but I used my IE800's with some spare Comply Tx-500's tips and haven't felt that it muffled the sound at all.  I plan on getting some Tx-200's later since I've heard that they are a bit tighter fit around the IE800's and should be a little more secure... for now the Tx-500's will work.

Keep in mind that those are not sold by "Amazon".  It's a third party retailer... You'd probably be ok but I've heard of people having issues dealing with third party retailers on Amazon, particularly when it comes to returns.  The price is pretty good though...

I got my IE-800's from Amazon, dealer from Japan, like $725. I ran the serial through Sennheiser , all good. There are deals to be had.
