I've tried searching extensively and haven't been able to find the answer to this simple question:
 
I know that the Sennheiser IE8 and IE8i have different cables (besides the simple addition of the microphone/controls to the IE8i), but is there a sound difference between the two models or do they sound identical?
 
I would appreciate some input from people who have listened to both.

The only reason why I was concerned is because of the difference in the cable's physical appearance.  They look to be two different cables all together (besides the microphone/controls obviously)?

assuming the impedance of the cable as the same it should then sound the same.  id be super duper surprised if sennheiser didnt have them match electrically.
