That's not proven yet. Could be great but could end up being deemed less than great.

I remember their marketing said the same for the IE400 and IE500. (Their "fancy" 7mm xwb dynamic driver). I have this feeling the IE300 is nothing new except for some cosmetic and connector changes and a different marketing tageting audiophiles instead of the pro market.

The cool thing about a core transducer "platform" (7mm XWB) is that you can apply countless other acoustic principles to the transducer itself, and the surrounding environment/housing (damping, membrane materials, placement/distance to name just a few) to it in order to achieve wildly different tunings, rest/response times, extensions and so on. Of course there's some family resemblance in the flesh and also in sound so yes, there's shared DNA, but think of each earphone/headphone model as its own unique person. IE 300's own tuning is one thing, and MMCX puts a huge multiplier in play when thinking of the combinations of SE source, amp, cable, driver, and then the balanced versions of that. That's where the fun really begins in hifi.

Will there be more information on the diaphragm ?
Further, will they reconsider the earhook design on the balanced cable ?

Regards

The diaphragm on the 300 is a new polymer blend that I'm told is faster and more controlled on the in and out. In listening w/ the 300 I can attest that transient detail definitely benefits. Assume the exact makeup of the membrane will be secret sauce, however. The housing and jack socket orientation means every cable should be an ear loop format, but as for the bendable built-in earhooks we will see soon when it is formally shown. Sennheiser will show it here as soon as it is ready. Have you tried the bendable earhook on IE 300 or IE 400, etc etc? What did you think?

I liked them a lot, but as mentioned in the video, I would have appreciated a more restrictive rotation there. Maybe keying them in order to restrict the rotation would make fitting them quicker. You could also use flexible earhooks, in that case the rotation is fine.

Again, thank you for the Information, cannot wait to try them out.

Keying them might prevent rotation during insertion, but might hamper the flexibility for wearing comfort once they’re actually fitted in your ear, and keying the connector would be one more way that could make the connector less universal.

Will any comply or Shure Olives foam tips fit these?

I’ll try some out when my demonstration pair arrives, I usually prefer foam tips over silicon, but I’ll let you know now that I prefer tips with wax filters (longevity).

Just got mine is this week. So far with about 40 hours on it, I'm really liking the sound signature of these tiny IEMs. My only gripe is the cable microphonic is pretty bad and the earhooks are really stiff. Anyone have any luck so far with aftermarket cables where the MMCX fits the Senn?
