Lots of new competition in this "high-end desktop dac/headamp" sector:

  • Sennheiser HDVD800
  • Grace M903
  • Anedio D2
  • Audiolab MDAC
  • Woo WA7
  • AudioGD whatevah
  • Antelope Zodiac
  • Plus I forgot...

You know - it would make perfect sense for Sennheiser to hire lake people (violectric) for this job.

Of course it would all be very hush hush but remember that Violectric was supposed to launch the balanced 281 quite some time ago - then it all got very quiet. Maybe they got busy with other things?

If it turns out violectric is behind this Sennheiser amp it will most certainly be good!

All unfounded speculation of course.

This could be true, very interesting theory.
I'm currently doubting between the V800+V200 or HDVD800. It depends on the HDVD800's quality.
I don't have the money to buy either of them though, it'll take a while to save that up so I can wait to check out some reviews.

I would have thought this unlikely as they are competitors.  If some of the design was done outside then more likely to be a freelance consultant.

I don't think Sennheiser would contract anything like this to another company - if they don't already have the experienced, qualified specialists in house they could just hire them. I know they use Chinese OEMs for their cheap models of headphones, but this is a flag ship product.

Today, HDVD800 was exhibited at Fujiya AVIC Headphone Festival Tokyo and someone can hear the sound.
He said, it was slightly noisy. Noise may be caused by poor electric power equipment in the exhibition hall.

As in the unit made noise while plugged in, or there was hiss out of headphones connected to it?
