One headphone does it all for me, and has kept me happy for almost a year straight, and I don't see it letting me down anytime soon.

Everyone enjoys the hobby their own way.

There are a lot of nice reviews regarding the Focal you are describing, including Tyll's.
However, im sort of like everyone else, i like having a lot of headphones, as if i just try to use one, it becomes stale.
Ive even been known to use 3 or 4 different headphones, while listening to one song, as i like to hear how each of them provides the music.
But thats just me......
Also, im quite obsessed with getting something new.......
I hope the HD820s are special.....
Time will tell.

It isn’t. There’s a lot that the 800S can do that the Focal headphones can’t. This is a ridiculous statement and is pure fanboyism. At this summit-fi level, it’s all about preference. I personally wouldn’t take any of the Focal’s over the 800S unless I was allowed to immediately sell them to fund a Sennheiser and pocket the difference.

The Utopia is the most overpriced headphone I can think of. The Clear is better, even disregarding price.

I own the Focal Utopia, Focal Clear, HD 800 S and the other headphones mentioned and I couldn’t disagree more.

And I bet most people did not even test the HD 820 who are commenting.

Absolutely. Everyone else saw the price first and decided to rave about it. The Clear's treble is much more even. Looks like Focal released it to fix the faults of the Elear and Utopia. At least the Elear is reasonably priced.

I bought Utopia because out of the many, many flagships I tried, I liked them the best, by a far margin.

Not because I saw the price tag and said "wow they must be great if they cost $4K!". That's enough off-topic though. Back to the HD820.

It is too early to make any comment about the sound, but so far I like them.
