So thats where the extra money is going:grinning:

As an owner of the HD800 and the HD650, I'm guessing Sennheiser was trying to find a middle ground between the musicality of the HD650 and the scalpel-like precision of the HD800.

I have seen similar measurements from someone else but figured it might be his HD 800 S.

Yes. I posted Distorsion plots in my HD800S review here : http://www.head-fi.org/t/795365/sennheiser-hd800-s-impressions-thread-read-first-post-for-summary/240#post_12350999  . "One noticeable drawback is that distorsion is less good in bass and especially sub bass area."

Have You tried Sonarworks with HD800 and if yes, then did you measured FR and distortion with Sonarworks 'HD800 plugin'?
Thanks!

Thankyou I've read the impressions, it says the HD800's is more laid back and smooth sound. Will it suit pop and dance music. I find the AKG812 to be a very bright headphone compared to the HD800
