Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

A Dealer in the UK takes 'pre-orders' for Headphones but it is clearly stated that it is just that. Otherwise, in the UK, it is illegal to offer for sale any item if you do not have it. (Trading Standards) I suspect the same may apply in the US ??
However,if this is to be the selling price,it makes me smile that the HD800 'knockers' won't be able to have something else to moan about!
(but,at just $100 more than the original model, then it makes you think?? if it is right ,they certainly won't be selling the original model)

I can't comment on the veracity of Moon Audio's statement, but retailers in Europe are claiming they will have stock in December. Looks like the US price ($1699) is similar to the the European price (1599 euro). Of course the Euro price includes tax already...

Hi guys. beyond the list price of the HD 800 , very pumped here in Italy ... We have to see what will be the selling price granted new HD 800s . with little or no discount , the 800s could cost almost twice the 800 classic .

The HD700 seem to have dropped in price, £399 in the UK now. 800's still £1000-£1100, if they are keeping them then surely they must drop the price too.  Very tempted by the 700's but if there is a decent price drop for the 800's, hmm.

Regarding the HD800 price IMHO I don't see it dropping much and why should it. It's not all that different than the new incoming S, paint? And some some sound absorbing materials? The cable is the real difference here and the color, it's not like this required a whole lot of R&D.

Not that again... We will never know for sure how much different it is until we have a chance to listen to it. Maybe there will be little to no difference, maybe we will have a fuller and bassier sound?.. We should just wait and see.

The HD800 is widely discounted. Shopping around could bring this to £675

in Italy today you can buy hd 800 to 890 euro , while HD700 at about 430/450 Euros

The same as UK, but official price of HD800 is still £1159

The reason I'm considering the HD800S is the correction of the sonic flaws of the original. Paint and cable have nothing to do with it.
