Does your copy sound warm to you in comparison with HEKse, specifically?
I wouldn't call either warm leaning, they both give accurate, or what I feel are accurate presentations of the source material. Both excelling throughout the spectrum, with the HE1000se being the king for extending both higher and lower, without being sibilant.

Yep...meant to say "1000s".

...@ 3:20 QC and 7 minutes testing....same rigorous testing "per unit" on the HDVR800.
Excellent insight overall to Sennheiser's approach to headphones.

Very different from the Grado factory tour!

052662 Made In Ireland
From Ireland there appears to be a bit more boost starting at 3.5K so midrange would be brought forward and I would think the current run sounding less ethereal.... then there is more of a a drop starting at between 4K and 5K with a gradual increase not until 12K (My hearing caps at 11-12K so I wouldn't hear that at all), where as there is an earlier rise from Germany (Mine) at 9K, so the older runs probably brighter sounding for us older folks. (Assuming that the measuring rig is calibrated identical to the one that was used in Germany)

Interesting. Well I'm 60 and mine still has plenty of treble but I don't hear any annoying peaks.
I may have been off on my terminology, not much happening music wise above 10K.
Still, point being nothing really being missed, maybe a bit of presence.

This is super helpful. I think I got a relatively warmer version of cans made in Germany based on the FR. Look at sample variation I agree in general that the made in Ireland copies have the down slope FR which I attribute to the warmer sound signature.

I am happy that I no longer need to refer to 800 as “ear tweeter”.

Okay, I get what the fuss is all about now. 800S is impressive on CFA3 and one of the best cans I have ever heard. Lol if it weren’t for @Rob80b constantly shilling 800S in the 660S2 and NdH30 threads I may never have mustered enough interest to demo 🤣 But as soon as I heard a demo unit at the store I knew 800S had changed. The Sennheiser amp was leaving a lot of performance on the table and I knew 800S will scale with better chain.

Can we be sure about this change? I think if we ask @Sennheiser we will not get a confirmation of a "silent" change but I may be wrong. Anyway, looking at those graphs above I can see some differences but they could also be explained as unit to unit variations?

You gotta try a more recent copy of 800S. It Is the perfect companion for NDH30. Before this year the last time I heard 800 and 800S was I think 5-6yrs ago and I didn’t like them at all at the store.
