Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

I've had my HD800S pair for over a year now and love them as a backup pair for classical, some ambient and metal, where I mainly use my Final D8000 for electronic and rock/ pop.
I have recently got an amp that offers a balanced XLR option, so am thinking of trying this with the Sennnheisers. Is there a good convertor anywhere that I can add to the 4.4mm cable that came with them or do I have to buy an entirely new set of cables with XLR termination?
Also, what's the consensus on the dekoni leather pads? Do they offer an sq improverment/ difference?
I picked up this adapter at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001108541655.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2fd74c4d2NzBiV that I have been pleased with. I use it with my Rai Pentas as my 800S has an XLR already.

You can buy this adapter for 4.4 to 4-pin XLR

As for the Dekoni pads, they change the sound signature way too much imo. The sound became more bloated & recessed when I tried them,

Sucks its not cheaper. Its not hard to find a HD800s for 1k or less. With an XLR cable even.

It says shipping on November 2021. Too long of a wait. Given the track record of drop, I say we ll be lucky to get it this year.

Double helix cables are really good, but expensive. There’s tons of cheap cables out there.

Sennheiser has used on model 800S two different type of helmholz resonators, i don't know exactly on wich S/N the change was made, i haven't read this thread maybe this was already posted earlier
