Hello fellow members... :smile_phones:

So, I'm contemplating whether to get the Sennheiser HD660S2' ($499) or take that money and invest in revitalizing my Sennheiser HD700 phones. (would like to get the Sennheiser HD800s ($1399) but they're out of reach for the moment), so....

Anyway, from my readings and understandings, the HD660S2 doesn’t quite live up to the detail and soundstage of the 700s. And to be frank, while I’m rather fond of the HD700, though they tend to be a bit bright at times. Enter Moon Audio’s Black Dragon cable which is said to tame the highs and tighten the mids and bass.

Anyway, I’m looking at a their 10-foot Black Dragon Balanced cable to fit my Teac UD-503 DAC. This comes in at a whopping $370 bucks. Add $80 bucks for OEM Sennheiser ear pads, and $30 bucks for their headband pad, and that’s a $480 refurb job vs. buying a new pair of 660S2’s.

In the end, I think the better move for me, is the refurb job as I like the HD700’s, but I’d like to get some opinions.

My current setup - Teac UD-503 DAC and Sennheiser HD700 phones with custom-made Balance cable.

You'll spend $480 on a headphone worth about $300. You'll recoup very little of that if you decide to sell.

My personal recommendation is to sell the HD700 and invest all that money into another headphone.

Another option is to try to find some of these things used vs. new if you're set on the upgrade.

I misunderstood... you meant thoughts/suggestions based only on the options you presented. Of those two, I choose 660S2.
