I've been trying to research HD650 vs HD650 2019 version, are there any measurements available that compare the new models to the old ones?
Or any people who own both versions?
I read they do or should sound the same.

There was a brief blip when they first moved assembly to Romania, but you shouldn't be running into that stock anywhere today.

Some variations in FR, this was never followed up though. Look for "solving the HD650 mystery". Could happen to every manufacturer, the HD650 is pretty well monitored by the community though.

Why no tubes?

I have the Asgard 2, Magni Heresy and Darkvoice 336se.
The Tube Darkvoice sounds the best to me. Asgard is better than the Magni Heresy.

Flat out the Darkvoice has great synergy and musicality with the HD6xx.

Not saying any of the others sound bad. Asgard 2 is very close to the Darkvoice with the difference being mostly a Tube vs SS thing.

The Magni H does an admirable job and if you didn't hear the others you would probably enjoy it very much.

I will probably buy more headphones in the future so I think that solid state amp will do better with different headphones than tubes. As I understand tubes are "warm" so pairing them with HD 6XX which is also warm is little weird to me?

You're doing it wrong... considerer 2 amps! 1 SS + 1 tubes.

More seriously, tubes are not always warm, or are not only warm. There's more to it. And it's widely consensual that most Senn 6__ series sound great with tubes.

My prefered setup when I'm working is an old Senn DT150 from a Little Dot mk II. Not a "correct", "natural" or "analytical" sound, and far from state of the art or audiophile level, but I can asure you that's a FUN setup.

Check out "www.garage1217.com" for excellent tube (hybrid: preamp section powered with 1 tube AND solid state amp section). I have the Project Ember and it is an awesome and highly flexible amp.
