I have the 580 which is basically the same thing as the 600 and I still keep swapping the pads and listen too it often.

If you’ve got the right amp, the HD600/650 are near as good as it gets. Forget low impedance cans made to play off your iPhone but sound the same with a $1,000 class A amp. Yes, the Senns are intimate as opposed to expansive, but for many of us, that’s why we listen to headphones. Get a good high end stereo system for soundstage and imaging. I’ve had many megabuck headphones come and go, but the sennheisers are the keepers.

Agreed. And with the right DAC + headphone amplifier, the HD600 will give you more soundstage and imaging. The HD600 ‘scales up’ with higher quality gear in a way unmatched by other headphones. Below, HD600 is ready for action:

The HD600 scales with better recordings.
The whole thing about scaling with amps and dacs is nonsense, regardless of the headphone used.
Listen to the music…not to the boxes via your eyes.

Having listened to the HD600 (and plenty of other headphones) on a bottlehead crack, crackatwoa, and mainline...I politely disagree.

It’s alright:)
I have listened to a fair few tube amps that employed an impedance hump in the bass on my 600 - ultimately making it warmer, but I never prefered it over the stock presentation.
That is however something which is clearly audible. The differences between solid state amps and dacs and how these somehow make the 600 scale..that is pure nonsense imho.
