Has anyone tried replacing the HD 580 or HD600 with Shure 940 pads as they look to be a similar size. Would they fit.

I'll try it when I get home. I'll let you know. I have 840, 440, 940 pads at home and the HD 580.

Hey, sorry for not responding. I forgot about doing this. The 440/840 pads fit, but they don't feel right, and the sound quality is very different. The airy, clean sound of the HD 580 feels a lot more compressed. I don't normally listen for soundstage, but it noticably shrinked. Also, the 940 pads weren't fitting, although they look as if they should. I'm fairly terrible at these kinds of tasks, so it's certainly possible that the 940 pads can fit. To give you an idea, the 940 pads fit on the 840, so using transitivity ...

 
Either way, I prefer the HD 580 pads on the HD 580 and the 940 pads edge out the 840 pads on the SRH 840.
