Sennheiser HD555, poorly designed headband?

OK so these headphones are amazingly good, but i have a problem with them, i've not had them for very long (less than a year) and they are already cracked and look like they are going to break at some point.
This worries me, i don't have the money for a replacement set, can i get the part replaced?

Sorry for the low quality photograph but it lets you see what i mean.
That started out as a crack and has changed into that, the same has started on teh other side and more worryingly, there's another crack further down on that same piece, which is't superficial as far as i know.
Can someone tell me if that part can be replaced and if  so how?
(my warranty may be void due to me already having replaced the cable btw, don't know if that effects it but it probably does)
I suppose i should explain the title a bit, this isn't something that happened for my own carelessness, this is just from regular wear, that bit stops the headband from turning too far, and constant pressure caused it to crack and then break, this seems to me like poor design.
