i am really enjoying them on my k5 pro ess. i am thinking about getting the k7 since it got a balanced port. i wanna know by myself if there will be a noticeable different
Yes the K7 is a noticeable upgrade from the K5 (in balanced form). I've owned both. The K9 goes even further IMO, but is obviously far more expensive. If you like the K5 the K7 will be perfect for you but with more power, more definition, improved soundstage and a beautiful timbre. At the moment Fiio are knocking it out of the park with their products.

I got a deal on an HD600 through work for $265 a few days ago. Never tried them so took a shot.

I was smitten with the HD660s2, but damn the HD600 are good. I'm pretty taken aback actually. I think I like them better...

Try the 660s next if you like the 600 mids! How does your Audeze Maxwell stack up?
I had the 660s in the past. Sold them when I got the S2.

Maxwell is great but I just don't enjoy using closed headphones for long periods. It's also heavy. But it sounds great and is super comfy.

Still don't think it sounds as good as HD6 series.

buy a feliks audio euforia evo, and it will take the 660S2 to heaven.
Just received my 660s2 and I can agree wholeheartedly, it does take it to the next level.

Balanced (dual mono, bridged or fully differential) is not necessary and may not even be desirable.

Just joind the S2 club today. Amazed at how the low end has improved compared to the OG S. Anyone using any aftermarket accesories with their S2? Pads, cable etc?

I have s2 on a Stephen Audioart cable and I got a bit more openness and upper mid clarity which I do like with s2.

Yes. One of the cables (shown) is Norne Audio Vygarde [copper / silver interwoven] in black / copper accent sleeve. The other cable (not shown) is Forza Audio Works Noir Hybrid [copper / silver interwoven]. Also, I removed the earside foams and installed fine mesh - greater clarity & directness without etch or glare.

.....The alcantara leather pads on the Shure 1540 would be an exception though. They might just be the most comfortable headphones pads on the planet! I’ve never tried to fit them to the six series though. Hmmm, I wonder if it’s possible……

It is possible. It might be more favorable on the 600 though if you find them too sharp and lean. Might make the newer drivers too warm for some.

YMMV

is there a protection on the driver? or will it touch the ear and get more dusty over time?
