A lot of people assume because the driver capsule looks the same it’s basically the same driver. I’ve come across enough driver systems that are identical in appearance that don’t sound the same to know it’s a fallacy to make such an assumption.
Totally understood and that's why I'm here to set the record straight :)

I think people are expecting the headphones drivers to look obviously different. But optimizations to the magnetic system, airflow. etc. can make dramatic improvements. While I don’t have engineering expertise, I’m aware the non-obvious changes (to the layman) can make some of the biggest differences.

I'm just glad I don't have to pay $100 for new earpads in 3 years. More like $50 :)
and $10 for some 3rd party headband.

They took down the original pre-order on the Canadian Amazon website and reposted at a price similar to the $600 USD retail.

Not the same steep discount but try ordering direct from Sennheiser, more often than not if you leave something in your cart they'll send a friendly email reminder with a 10% off code. wink, wink say no more. : )

Don't blame you. I like my headphones to have product support in terms of parts, etc. It's why I like companies such as Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, etc. as they support their products for a long time and parts are readily accessible and often aren't too expensive.

I've had exceptional experience with the Grado boys as well...

Your earpads last you 3 years? Mine last like, 6 months. =(

Are you enjoying your headphones after a good barbecue or a visit to the Hamam?
