Hi I own a pair of srh840, I agree, good isolation but boring, I'd consider instead the beyers dt 1350 or t51p.

Beyer's are probably a good choice as might be V-Moda M100. Of course we're assuming you're looking for a sealed headphone.

Definitely looking for closed back headphones.

For portable use the Sennheiser HD25-1 II or (the even better) Amperior are excellent choices.
