I got today the Sennheiser's CX500 - I am pretty happy with them so far.

No matter which way I tried I just can't figure how to use the included cable winder. I understand that the earphones should go in the holes but how deep? and then, what to do with the cable? how do the cable goes in the two notches on each side?

I searched all over the net and I couldn't find a video or pics showing how to use it. Can anybody help? Can anyone upload some step by step pics?

push the earbuds into each socket. then, wrap the cable around the flat extension. put the excess cable closest to the jack into the slot with a slit in it.

cheers i had the same annoying issue. In that case, what is the hole at the other end of the winder for?

Would you be shortening the life of the cord by winding up the wire?
 
I mean, it does seem like there is some stress going on when it is wrapped around the wad of rubber...
