I've been reading, after modification the Playstation (PS1) makes a nice decent CD player.

I have an old Sega Dreamcast, and wondering if this machine is also capable to be a decent CD player?

Any particular people to search for that do these mods?

Regards.

My guess is probably not.  The PlayStation 1 has a nice quality DAC [AKM DAC], but the Dreamcast just includes lower quality [audiophile wise] audio hardware (in comparison).  Don't feel down though, it's still one of the best gaming consoles ever made. :)  Just burn *cough cough* a few games and forget the fact it cannot be an somewhat higher end CD Player.

What is your source? I haven't been a gamer in about a decade, although I've been trying to rekindle my old adolescent hobby. I own both the PS2 and Dreamcast and I believe the sound is far more superior on the Dreamcast. I think it would be a daunting task to use the DC as a CD player now a days...

Haven't heard of these mods but regardless it's one of my best systems. Too bad it discontinued so soon.

Since we are talking about the Dreamcast, in a headphone forum, I'd figure I'd share my video of my Dreamcast connected to my iBasso headphone amp and to my B&W P5s & Grado SR225is...
