I just ordered a brand-spanking-new 32 GB iPod Touch from Apple's Web site... I'm amped about it as I'm going to Mexico in about 2 weeks. Does anyone have any good tips on how to load video content not purchased from iTunes? I've seen software that claims to be able to but I always find these claims dubious at best - if somebody could suggest an application to use to rip my DVDs or something I would be most appreciative.

Soren

I have no video Ipod, but I do have Tivo and the Tivo people say that if you have your Tivo networked to your computer you can transfer stuff from your Tivo to your Ipod. I haven't tried it, but it's what Tivo has been advertising. So you'd have to record your dvds to your Tivo then transfer to Ipod. Probably a better way out there, but it's a choice. I love my Tivo btw...

For starters Foobar will, indeed, upsample a cd. Very subtle difference, but it works using just analog outputs of my sound card. I can assume that this means I could easily steer the data out through the usb port.
I'm with Mike, though: having it stay on a drive is nice. I have about 100G of my own stuff on an external drive and the access factor is great.

It looks like this is what I'm bringing:

AMPS
Portaphile V2'2
RSA Red Tomahawk
MisterX Pint and Alien stack (Thanks Young)

HEADPHONES
Livewires T1's
Koss KSC-75's recabled by Apuresound w 75 Ohm resistor
Alessandro MS-1's recabled by me
Senn HD 580's

SOURCES
The usual portable stuff, Ipods, PSP, DVD, CD

And an assortment of cables and LOD's

I will probably update this list a few times before the meet.

No gear list this time?

I will be there with:
* Accura 660 with MB quart driver transplant and copper/teflon recable.
* silver/copper/teflon recabled Beyer 990/600 ohm, generation I.
* silver/teflon recabled iGrado.
* twisted pair/tri-braid/quad-braid silver teflon IC cables.
* Baby Stax with FatCatUltra modification.
* DIY orthodynamic phones (SFI tweeters as drivers, cotton/copper cable, Sony CD180 housing).
* Koss ESP7 with pleather pads and driven by modified E/9 transformer box.
* Koss ESP950 (only if I can come up with a Stax/Koss adaptor).
* Kenwood receiver amp to drive the E/9 & ESP7.
* "Eddie Bauer" speaker-> headphone adaptor (to be driven by Kenwood amp, much better than the headphone out).
* Sony X555ES CDP with upgrades.
* Panasonic PCDP's with polyprop/blackgate lineout & headphone out. (Want to compare with the iMods. Anybody got one?)

That will do it for right now.

Well, we started on them a few days ago, but it sortof died off.

Yes, begin again! Begin again anew. Begin, if only for the sake of beginning at the beginning, that, which is to say, the re-beginning at the beginning.

Onward!
I'll be bringing the usual suspects (Pimeta, DVP-S9000ES sacd), HD600, maybe even with the Cardas cables this time (or the 650 cables...), and that other project...the CK2III that should have been done in November...Well, if it aint done by then I'll have to give Young a hundred bucks...or something like that. The sound on this thing needs to be shared. Yow! Rockin some Zeppelin right now and s*** I'm lovin' it.

Oh, I won't forget the SACDs this time.

the KSC55 woodies were already taken apart...... and I used the dampenning foam pad for modding the orthodynamic Sony

I will see if I can find some more HP foams to resurrect the woodies (silver teflon recable and with KSC35 drivers this time!!).

Though I believe you guys will like the silver iGrado and the ortho's better

I'm just curious if anybody is planning on bringing a Diyeden, Zhaolu or Zero DAC? I'm considering one of the three as an upgrade for my extigy and would love to sample them if anyone is planning on bringing one.
