OMG I can not believe it. Should I call shure or go back to retailer for exchange.

What should I do?

I wouldn't worry to much about it, my previous E500 was also labeled xxx6 SE530 back when I got it in 2006. I found this when I was looking information about the warranty for my E500:

During this transition period there may be some units in SE530 packaging where the earphone plug is etched with "E500" and vice versa. Rest assured an E500 and an SE530 is EXACTLY the same product even though you may find an etched E500 in an SE530 package.

Hope this helps

Thank You so much xenohawk, that helps a lot.

biggiesmallsiz, did your new SE530 come with the new iPhone extension cable? I got a picture so you know at the bottom. The left is normal one and right is iphone one.

I believe all the SE models built since fourth quarter 07 have the iPhone cable included. Notice I said "built" I think they still have a lot of 310's and 530's that are in stock from before that. I just got a pair of 110's as backups and they have the iPhone cable with them though...

The insulation on the right earpiece of my SE530 cracked yesterday. This was my 3rd replacement pair, and Shure assured me that it was one with the newer cable that supposedly fixed the cracking problem.

I think that I'm going to have to give up on Shure at this point. I'm obviously one of those people whose body chemistry does not react well with the E500/SE530 cable. As working musician who uses these as part of an in-ear monitor system on stage, I simply cannot afford to be without these for a couple of weeks every three to six months and to incur repeated overnight delivery charges for sending them back to Shure.

Mine cracked yesterday as well.

Only numbers visible on my se530's are 0227 & 108261

Purchased last Aug. I think... returning tomorrow. Shame I cant get a refund. Trouble is there isnt a replacment, I too was hoping to get the westone 3.

I own the SE310's and my right side just started cracking too!! I live right near the Niles, IL facility so I asked if I could drop them off instead of mailing it in. They were ok with it. I also asked the lady if this is a known issue and she said she never heard of it...so on monday, i'll go drop them off...she said they dont have any se310's in stock, but it'll take only 3-4 business days to ship from the main shipping facility....

You should have seen me when I first noticed the crack....a very loud profanity

I paid $250 for mine and was pretty pissed...I couldn't imagine paying $500 as with the se530's...I'd be twice as pissed

To resurrect an old thread, has anybody worked out the MY where Shure (my retailer tells me they're on their third cable revision) reformulated the latest cables?

Searching the forums suggest later half of 2008.

To the point: I want to know if people are still having cable/wiring/splitting issues with the current iteration.

Still wondering when Shure may update their model line too. The e500/530's have been around for years now.

my first pair of se310's, the wire started cracking
the 2nd pair the rubber started peeling off around the actual headphone unit

on my 3rd pair...the rubber and plastic seems to be a little bit more flexible, but i still have a 2008 pair

let's see how long these last.....

fortunately, i live right by SHURE hq, so i can get them swapped out on the spot
