I would assume that the akg 1000 or mdr-f1 or the sony 5.1 dolby digital one

hrm... the f1 and that one looks alot alike

but I think the akg would be super comfortable for listening to

well, the topic says "screw sound, let's talk comfort", so you're not in immediate danger saying stuff like that

. besides, V700/600/900 bashing is getting really old by now...

For me, comfort is very important, at equal level than sound -well, more or less

-. Everybody has a different opinion. Try some headphones and judge by yourself. I simply don't like senheisser nor sony, but AKG501 are heaven for me. Matter of tastes...

My HP890s feel nice... but I really have nothing high end to compare to.
Only tried the HD495s briefly, didn't seem to comfortable, but it's probably just the fact that they are supraaural..

You might find this hard to believe but here goes......After a month of ETY boot camp.....ETY-4S.....with custom molds after they warm up (3 minutes) they absolutely disappear.

I also think my Grado's are perfectly comfortable and HD600's are claustrophobic! So once again, there's no accounting for taste, or comfort!

Sennheiser HD-560II. My oldest Sennheiser is the most comfortable can I've ever worn. Much more so than the 580 or 600. Put it on and forget it's there.

I love the HD600 -- it's the best all-around headphone I've heard (with the Etys very close). I also find them to be *very* comfortable.

That said, I think the AKG K501 are just as comfortable. They weigh much less and have that spring-loaded leather band -- they also don't grip like a vise

Their downside are the scratchy earpads, and the fact that they earcups fit so gently that ALL of the weight ends up sitting on the crown of the head, whereas on the HD600 the weight is somewhat distributed to the sides of the head.

So those two are my favs.

Heh-heh. You must be the guy in Antarctica, too.

Actually, didn't we just have this thread? I know we did, because I remember saying that, of the phones I have worn, Senn HD600 and Beyer DT770 tie.

Surprised noone has mentioned the Senn 590s.

Most comfortable: Sennheiser HD590. Take the HD600, make it clamp a bit less and also have a softer, fuzzier feel, and there you have it. I don't know how even the Sony F1s would compare.

Honorable mentions:

Sennheiser HD600 - Big muffs, pressure is distributed very evenly, headband is comfortable.

Sennheiser HD500 - Similar to HD590s but a bit plasticy feeling and can get hot.
