A yummy pair.......

So how do I get on your christmas list..?

Cheers,

Yup! I live less than 10 minutes from Binny's, which is not always a good thing...

Really looking forward to opening this one...

fantastic thread!
To add to it...

IMHO, there isn't anything like getting up into the highlands (isle of skye)with a hip flask full of your fav single malt (Glenmorangie for me) sitting back next to the 'wee bonny heather' and getting pleasantly tranqualised

keeps you warm too, one of the great needed qualities when in a cold climate

Must get back up north again soon

Hmmm, maybe you guys would know this: I got a 375 of "Dewar's White Label" blended scotch at a recent Christmas Party and I'm not sure what it is or whether it's any good. I looked it up and it's actually a few dollars more expensive than captain, but then again I realize scotch snobs often spend upwards of $50 on a 750 of their favorite scotch.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Sorry about the lack of updates on the front page post. I had 2 constraints recently that prevented much in the way of updates. 1st, I made a conscious decision not to post on any hard to find or really expensive scotches I've tried. This means that only about half to a third of the scotches I've tried are actually on the front page. Second, I had a massive heart attack a year and a half ago at age 34, so I had to cut back a bit.

Sorry to hear that man. I hope the heart specialist was able to correct the cause. Yeah good scotch is hard to put down, but easy to get down. he he

I am giving Clynelish 14 another go tonight but I still do not care for it that much.
First aroma was seeweed/ salty with a subtle sweetness following.Hints of caramel or toffee not much peat in the aroma from what I can tell.
As I taste I get salty followed by a bit of caramel
Finish get a salty spicy with a little bit of sweetness.
I think it is a bit better without any water but is still qite complex of a flavor. I enjoy Glenrothes 1987 and 1972 much better than this but I might keep this in my rotation and give me time to adapt to it.

You have my feelings chef. I did have a 12 cask strength not too ong ago, and it was really good, it made think that Clynelish was not that bad at all. I might try to seek out another version at some point.

Cheers,

Has anyone had the opertunity to try the Glenrothes select reserve? I am currious how it compares to other scotches from its distillary and from others.

I should be picking up some glenrothes 1972 next week and will give my impressions. 240.00 for a bottle it should be great.

Wow, you guys have been living high!

I've got a bargain find: Famous Grouse 18 yr. malt blend. The label says it contains Macallan and HP and it tastes like it too! $50!

I've been glad to come across this thread. A Scotch thread in a headphone forum makes total sense.

I've yet to try much else than Macallan 12, since I only rarely drink scotch and am really happy with it, but the Scotch journey (in moderation of course) is one I'm looking forward to, perhaps visiting the distilleries in Scotland too.
