Anyone using (tried) it as preamp and how "appropriate" is the performance for the price?
Wanna use it as stop-gap till my big tube pre is finished for my XA25, I know, I know... :
No problem as a pre amp.

I'm sure you could splice in an inline fuse holder..... heck, if it weren't for the wall-wart power supply and the DIN (?) plug, I'd be putting in a $10K Quantum Science Audio Gold fuse in Vali 3 .....
Actually make it 2 fuses, just to be safe. Must protect the Vali 3 at all costs!

I can actually speak slovak so I know what's written on the box... coming soon to a Vali 3 very near me:
"elektronka" means tube
Tesla (not the car manufactorer) is actually still around in czechia and slovakia they make a bunch of stuff! (mainly home electronics)
Who is selling that Tesla tube?
I was blown away by the Tesla last night. The sound stage was as wide as the GE 5 Star but much deeper! Also the well defined layers of sound and instrument separation. No harshness at all, just so smooth. Resisting temptation to get a WE 396A until the 6J5 adapter gets here.

Looking forward to trying all the above. I went from the stock tube - which must have been dirt cheap 'cause there was still some dirt on the pins...cleaned before insertion - which I rather liked, so much so I found 2 more 6N3P's from the Soviet era to try, right to the WE.. OK that works! Wow! Bought another WE for a spare.
This version of the Vali is such a major upgrade from 2+. It could be titled "Vali 3!!!". The 2 generation was great value FOR THE PRICE. The 3 generation removes any qualifiers. It plays way above it's paygrade.
If I simplify what characteristics make for the best audio it's down to musical insight as a key. This amp offers it continuously.

I did a copy and paste from @jonathan c initial post about it. Found it on ebay. Seller had a couple thousand transactions and a 100% satisfaction rating.Who is selling that Tesla tube?

Well, OK I get the love. I want to see what the Valhalla 3 has to offer before making a decision. Meanwhile, I'm going to pretend that my Vali 2++ with a WE 396A tube is actually a Vali 3. It's starting to sound better already!
