Yes, you need that adapter. It will allow you to use quite a few different tubes in the Vali3. (6DJ8/7DJ8, 6BZ7, 6BK7A, 6CG7 and more.)Could someone just confirm that I would need a 6922 to 5670 adapter to run 6922 tubes in the Vali 3. Thanks

Thanks. If you already have this adapter or have ordered one; can you tell me where you got it from? ThanksYes, you need that adapter. It will allow you to use quite a few different tubes in the Vali3. (6DJ8/7DJ8, 6BZ7, 6BK7A, 6CG7 and more.)
I figure I better get the notes for the two 6CG7s down before I forget.
#1 is the Raytheon. Good detail but not much of a soundstage. (See diagram below) I have read these usually do not have much of a soundstage. Not bad for 10 bucks.
#2 is the NOS RCA. Looks to be from 1965 (date code AP, I think that is the date code as there are no other cryptic markings). Nice big sound stage and detail, but really lacking in the bass. The bass notes are there, just no power behind them. I listened to it last night and again this morning, I think this one may need more time to settle in as the bass seems to be opening up.

OK, so the one I see from Garage 1217 works both ways. Is that the right one? The 6922 to 5670?There are multiple places. Seller Xulingmrs on eBay, Amazon and the one I use from Garage 1217.

Yes the Garage 1217 works both ways. It is very well made and not cheap. With shipping and tax it will be close $40OK, so the one I see from Garage 1217 works both ways. Is that the right one? The 6922 to 5670?
Guess what has jumped back onto the launch pad, again?! This tube is really doing it for me. So good in fact I just ordered another. Why not, only $15.
Also updated headmap.

Ok fellow audiophiles. I have an important update: Vali 3 + WE396A tube is absolutely superior to my Jotenheim 2 now. Sound staging & imaging is fantastic. Dynamics & body are fantastic. The Jotenheim2 by comparison sounds a bit constrained and smaller now. Yes, the WE396A ($100.00 used/strong) is ridiculous but honestly worth it. I had a NIB/NOS in my cart that was going to be $170, with the higher priced "JW" military spec but then I discovered this strong-tested, but used unit for sale. So, barring finding a used WE396A, $150 + $170 = $320 all in. Is it worth it? All. Day. Long. Y'all can get rid of your Jotenheims (own), Asgards (owned), Magnis, Piety (owned), now. Everything sounds like live, spacious, smooth, music to my ears. However, even with the stock tube, it was a draw between the Jot and the Vali3; the stock tube is actually pretty good. But even with the stock tube, I liked the Vali3 ever so slightly more than my Jotenheim2. It has the same thickness, body, as the Jot with more liquidity, smoothness, and staging. The WE396A really puts it over the top of the Jotenhiem2. Jotenheim2 is now only 85-90% of the Vali3 with the WE936A tube. I know nothing of the Lyr or Lyr+ but I'm starting to think a tube hybrid amp may be the way to go. Maybe a pure class A amp could match this Vali3??? I will have to explore the likes of Aune S17Pro now. Either that or I'm going to have to spend a pile. Anyone want a lightly used Jotenheim2?

• Schiiclipse: tiny (I mean tiny!) headphone amplifier steps in for, takes the reins of, bigger (I mean bigger!) headphone amplifiers - and does fantastically!
